Nokia N900 Gets Reviewed in Detail (Video)

December 28, 2009

The folks of ZDNet managed to get their copy of the Nokia N900 handset back in October and now they released a review describing the very cool Maemo-based product. This is a powerful device, marketed as portable mobile PC and if you want to find out the features the reviewer love the most, feel free to check out the video below:

The N900 is a compact device with minimal packaging, that includes the handset, a battery, a high efficiency charger, a Nokia stereo headset, a video out cable, a Nokia charger adaptor and a cleaning cloth. This is the very first smartphone to run Maemo 5 and it comes with very impressive specs, like the ARM Cortex-A8 600 MHz CPU, 3.5 inch 800 x 480 pixel resistive touchscreen display, 256MB RAM and 768MB virtual memory.

32GB of internal memory are also on board, as well as a GPS, a 3.5mm headset jack with TV out support, a microSD card slot, FM transmitter, a 1320 mAh battery, a 5 megapixel camera with dual LED flash and Carl Zeiss optics, plus an accelerometer. If you look at the back of the device, you’ll find a kickstand around the camera, coming in handy if you want to watch videos with the N900 sitting on a flat surface.

One of the most important features of this mobile portable PC is its very friendly QWERTY keyboard, that slides from underneath the display. This is a 3 row keyboard with dedicated Ctrl, comma, period buttons, an offset space bar and 4 directions keys.

Back to the camera, the review lets us know that you’ll be able to capture 848 x 480 resolution video at 25 fps by using the handset’s camera sensor. Qik and YouTube support will also make the best of it. Full review and final impressions available over here.
