Top 10 Antivirus 2008

Written by byrev on January 13, 2008 – 10:14 am -

Top 10 Antivirus : email protection, anti-spyware, script blocking, instant message protection , P2P/file sharing protection or registry startup protection, adware protection, anti-virus, anti-trojans, RootKit protection, anti-hackers and anti-worm.

  1. The Shield Deluxe . The Shield Deluxe 2008, combines reactive virus protection and spyware detection methods with the latest proactive technologies to provide your computer with the most effective protection against malicious programs. The product is simple to install and set up, while offering advanced users a range of versatile settings for fine-tuning the program.
  2. CA anti-virus software . CA anti-virus, has such a nice, clean interface with what seems to be a very high “install and forget rating”. There is no overload of information and choices on the interface which is good. CA Anti-virus’s main software component runs at less than 13mb RAM which is pretty light and my overall system scan was pretty fast. Clean and simple, the way anti-virus software should be!
  3. BitDefender . BitDefender 2008 is an exceptional product with a user–friendly interface that scans all existing files on your computer as well as all incoming and outgoing emails, IM transfers and all other network traffic. The best way to defend your computer against Computer Viruses, spyware, hackers and spam is BitDefender 2008.
  4. Norton Anti-Virus Software 2008 . The software is easy to use and has wide-ranging security features to protect your PC from malicious programs. Norton, one of the leaders in security software, offers viable antivirus protection. Some of this protection includes instant messaging scanning, script blocking and POP3 and SMTP email protection. But, this software does not provide protection from P2P or file sharing transfers
  5. Kaspersky . Kaspersky Lab, can be used to identify and remove potential risks and malicious programs attempting to corrupt files and data on a computer. Real-time email scanning & automatic hourly updates; Rootkit and keylogger protection
  6. NOD32 . The NOD32 anti-virus software (ESET) is a novel anti-virus program that provides real-time protection against worms, trojans, spyware, malware, phishing and hackers. Within the control center you can have access to tons of customization feature and different types of scans-DMON, IMON, EMON and more. Nod32 has two different ways to run the program. You can run a simple Nod32 scan or you can spend more time using the control center.
  7. Panda . Panda Antivirus, making protecting your personal computer as easy as possible. Powerful blockage from hijackers, keyloggers, intruders, and hackers. Panda’s Antivirus software comes with an virus and spyware protection. Panda allows you to block, delete, clean, and quarantine infected files and does not slow your pc down during virus scans which is helpful to those constantly on your PC. Free automatic updates.
  8. McAfee . McAfee is an industry leader in computer protection and VirusScan is their #1 defense against viruses. Some downsides to the program are that it does not offer instant message protection, P2P/file sharing protection or registry startup protection. McAfee offers an 800 number, however it’s going to cost you and good luck finding the number. This software comes with a ScriptStopper, to stop viruses to spread from one computer to another via email, and WormStopper.
  9. TrendMicro - (Pc-Cillin) Anti-virus has protocols for protecting PCs against viruses, worms and trojan horses as well as spyware, rootkits and malware. Trend Micro’s Anti-virus plus Anti-spyware now gives its customers the tools it needs to battle malicious spyware, amongst things like trojans, hackers, worms, and adware. It scans incoming files real–time, including emails, downloads and files from portable storage devices. You can also schedule scans, run customized scans or conduct a scan on demand.
  10. F-Secure Anti-Virus . Does thoroughly scan your PC for viruses, and has a built-in anti-spyware scanner. F-Secure has a news section that can be used to sign up for virus alerts and updates of what is going on in the virus world. One or the other or both can be run to cut down on scan times. Moreover, the program scans outgoing and incoming email in real-time, does a great job of shielding your registry against probable hijackers and controls which programs startup automatically.

KB941644 - Vista Security issue in LSASS

Written by byrev on January 9, 2008 – 11:56 am -

Impact of Vulnerability - Remote Code Execution

Vulnerabilities in Windows TCP/IP Could Allow Remote Code Execution (941644) This critical security update resolves two privately reported vulnerabilities in Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) processing. An attacker who successfully exploited this vulnerability could take complete control of an affected system. An attacker could then install programs; view, change, or delete data; or create new accounts with full user rights.

Microsoft has released the usual update for the Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool and the Windows Mail Definition Update (x86) (x64). Microsoft has also released a protection update for the Windows Vista Sidebar as well as the first prerequisite update for Vista SP1 for Ultimate/Enterprise users.

LifeLike Realistic Games Than Ever Before

Written by byrev on December 25, 2007 – 8:44 pm -

A new generation of “super chips” is being designed to make computer games more lifelike than ever before.

Scientists say the silicon chips that power computers and games consoles have reached their peak in terms of speed and ability.

Now experts from Glasgow University and the Semiconductor Research Corporation in the US are working on a £1.2 million project to build a new breed of microchip that will allow more complex, realistic graphics to be created.

The new chips could also be used to increase the battery life of mobile phones and digital cameras. [telegraph.co.uk]

About Photovoltaics: Photovoltaics, or PV for short, is a solar power technology that uses solar cells or solar photovoltaic arrays to convert light from the sun directly into electricity. Photovoltaics is also the field of study relating to this technology and there are many research institutes devoted to work on photovoltaics. The manufacture of photovoltaic cells has expanded dramatically in recent years. As of the end of 2006, the total worldwide installed PV capacity was 5.7 gigawatt at peak (GWp), a 36% increase from 2005. [Wikipedia]

Colloidal silver

Written by byrev on December 20, 2007 – 9:11 am -

Colloidal silver refers to microscopic particles of silver that are held in a liquid suspension. Colloidal silverA colloid is technically defined as particles which remain suspended without forming an ionic, or dissolved solution.

The broader commercial definition of colloidal silver includes products that contain various concentrations of ionic silver, silver colloids, ionic silver compounds or mild silver proteins in purified water.

Colloidal silver with concentrations of 30 parts per million (ppm) or less are typically (but not always) manufactured using an electrolyte process, whereas colloidal silver with higher concentrations of 50 ppm or more are usually (but not always) either silver compounds such as silver chloride and silver iodide or are solutions that have been bound with a protein to disperse the particles. [Wikipedia]

These microscope pictures are typical of a quality Colloidal Silver, with good distribution, before (left) and after being exposed to a magnetic field.

Colloidal Silver

Colloidal Silver is also susceptible to damage by light and other external influences.

Electro-colloidal silver cannot be expected to have an infinite shelf-life, & “fallout” will occur in any non-stabilized product over an extended period of time.

The best way is to make it as you need it

Colloidal silver GeneratorColloidal Silver Is Easily “Spoilt”
Especially if it has no additives…. chemicals or proteins added to stabilize it.

Some manufacturers add stabilizers to prevent “clumping” and settling-out, but the overall effects on effectiveness & toxicity are unknown. Also some silver preparations are produced “chemically”.

These are not necessarily the same as the “safe” electrically produced Colloidal Silver referred to above.

The microscope pictures are typical of a quality Colloidal Silver, with good distribution, before and after being exposed to a magnetic field. [altered-states.net]
